MDTC STARTS STUDENT ADVOCACY PROGRAM

02/16/2010

Mid-Del Technology Center has recently started a student advocacy program.  The core principle of the Student Advocacy System (SAS) is to establish a one-on-one relationship with the student and the parent with the end result being the student will improve their grades and attendance.......

According to Christa Simmons, MDTC secondary counselor, "approximately twenty MDTC administrators, counselors, and instructional staff have volunteered to be student advocates.  MDTC has good relationships with our students, but this system will allow us to carry those relationships one step further, by involving the parent."

Cindy Heupel, an Educational Consultant in Oklahoma, recently presented the SAS concept to Mid-Del Technology Center staff.   The Student Advocacy System is a way for Mid-Del Technology Center staff to boost student achievement, improve relationships with students and staff and utilize family involvement.
